Baksoft Group is a New Zealand company established more than 30 years ago specialising in business software systems and related servicing and support products.
What does Baksoft do?
Baksoft is primarily a software developer distributing a range of standard business applications and offering rapid application development and customisation services.
Baksoft has developed an extensive library of functions and procedures, user hardened, robust and re-usable - the key to viable customisation!
Baksoft offers internet services including web hosting, web site design and automated on-line backup services. The company also offers IT support contracts and service agreements, sells and services computer hardware, and provides advisory and consulting services.
Baksoft's History
Baksoft Group was established in 1975 as an electronics manufacturing company. In the early 1980s at the start of the PC revolution, Baksoft began servicing computers for a major importer. At the same time the company became involved in software development services, specialising in business applications.
Rapid growth in the PC market led to the setting up of West City Computer Centre, one of the first computer retailers in Naw Zealand, specialising in Atari and Sinclair computers. In 1985 Baksoft was the leading Atari retailer in New Zealand, selling more than twice as many as the next ranked Atari reseller.
In 1986 the retail operation was sold to the Personal Computer Store and Baksoft refocused on the commercial computer industry, concentrating on custom software development. Many of Baksoft's current clients began their association in those ealier years!
